history ~
keianna and dominique phelps were 22 and 24, respectively, when their younger sister, tatiana, was born. keianna was married to harry davidson by this time, and they had a son named james. tatiana was a wild one from the very beginning. she got off to a rough start, at hogwarts, falling in with the wrong crowd. she dated a boy named terrance hargrove for her entire career at the school, and married him as soon as she turned seventeen. terrance was bad news, and tatiana's family knew it. he was a pure-blood, a slytherin, and a supremist. from the day they got married, tatiana wasn't to associate with keianna or dominique, or her parents, because they didn't fit terrance's standards. three years later, tatiana gave birth to a girl named harlequin, and terrance left her to serve his lord, voldemort. harley wasn't a year old when her mother was murdered - no one has ever solved the case, but there are suspicions that it has something to do with terrance.
keianna and harry quickly stepped in to adopt the orphaned harley. they felt like the fact that tatiana's murder had been so cold would be too traumatizing for harley to grow up with, so, they passed her off as their own daughter to the world outside of their family. the family, of course, knows the truth, and while some completely understand keianna and harry's reasoning, others don't feel right about hiding the truth from harley. dominique is the main opposition to keianna and harry's efforts. he has been distant with his sister and neice for the last fourteen years, as well as keeping up a rigorous search for terrance hargrove. as far as harley knows, her uncle is just an antisocial old man, and her mother and father waited a long time before deciding to have a second child. no one in the family has ever told her any different, so she has never questioned it.
the next chapter in harley's life started when her parents started sending her to darcy bradford's daycare - the neice of her uncle ace's wife. harley was three years old, and she became fast friends with a boy there. his name was charlie moss, and he always told her jokes, took her on adventures, and let her borrow his crayons. the two have been best friends ever since daycare - even now that they're at hogwarts together. sometimes their friendship gets in the way of their relationships, and it usually makes people feel uncomfortable. harley doesn't understand what everyone's problem is, there's nothing strange to her about a closeness between a guy and a girl who aren't dating. people need to get over themselves.
